I love Ram it Down and can’t understand why they’ve never had Scott Travis go into the studio and redo the drums for that album. I think Tony Dio hit the nail on the head who he said that they should’ve brought Scott in sooner. I just think it’s an injustice to that album and how great Robs vocals are and how raunchy the guitars are with that perfect tone. I would love it they would re-release that album with Scott Travis on it. How great that album would be.

I think all 3 of these suck, but if I had to choose one it would be Ram it Down. Turbo is so dumb and embarrassing it's ridiculous. Somewhere in Time is way too commercial for me. This is where Maiden starts to lose me. The albums before this were great, though. Ram it Down has a few good tracks, but it's not too impressive either.

  • @martymartin2894

I think the question was asked in one of these previous episodes, why did maiden surpass priest so much up to their popularity today, and there are several factors and one that I didn't think of until recently was the fact that rob halford was queer. Fagotry was a big no no for macho rock fans back in the 80s and early 90s. No way would u be listening to a gay singing metal and I bet they lost a lot of fans once that came out.

So glad Tony mentioned Reckless, such an underrated Priest song. Opening riff hooks you and the fast pace gets your heart rate up. That and Out in the Cold, which I consider one of the better ballads of the 80's, are the only 2 songs off either of those Priest albums that I like. Whereas, I get lost in Somewhere In Time often, just a beautiful metal album which reminds me of my high school years.

What Priest did between '74 to '84 is what they'll always be famous for to me. After that it's so hit or miss. Even Painkiller is more about a couple good songs than a real good album. Besides Angel of Retribution, I don't like any of the albums after 2000.

I’m so mad at myself because I got tickets to see Judas but never listened to sabaton until they opened for them and didn’t realize how much of metal machines they were. They’re like a mix of Iron Maiden and five finger death punch from Europe. I really loved their shit but didn’t get to fully appreciate them since I didn’t know their lyrics. I’ll be catching them whenever they come back for sure.

Evildead always have great album covers. Love the artwork on the new album. Dan Goldsworthy also did the artwork for the last 2 Xentrix albums among many other bands over the years. Great British artist 😉🤘Man I hope Evildead can make their way up to Canada for some shows. Ideally in Toronto or Montreal.🤘Also wanted to add I think it's really cool that Juan won a Grammy in 2021 with Body Count for best metal album. I hope he got one of those Grammy trophies.
